Professionalism & CommitmentWelcome to Catholic Sky Host
Catholic Youth Studio – KSM Inc.
Catholic Youth Studio – KSM Inc. is a Media Corporation for Evangelization operated by a Board of Directors which constitutes lay people and Religious who donate their talents and time in order to promote the Christian faith. Catholic Youth Studio came into existence in 1994 and has its roots in the pastoral ministry of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Mission Statment
Catholic Youth Studio is more than a corporation: it is also a meeting place for the young and for adults; for students and businesspeople.  The goal of Catholic Youth Studio is to reach those who have not yet experienced their "springtime of faith" by means of evangelization through modern forms of mass media.

The beginnings of our organization
Our history goes back to World Youth Day 1993 in Denver, Colorado, when thousands of young people from Canada, the U.S. and around the world experienced a powerful message of friendship, love and unity.  The enthusiasm of that event and eagerness to build bridges across generations, races and different nations was present in every person.  Following this great event, a large number of young people in Toronto devoted themselves to many forms of evangelization.

CATHOLIC RADIO TORONTO
Realizing a great need for Catholic broadcasting in every Catholic community, we decided to expand our ministry to include an English-language Catholic radio program - the first of its kind in Toronto in some 30 years.  Beginning Easter Sunday 2001, thousands of people could listen to Catholic Radio Toronto over the airwaves and through Internet rebroadcasts.
We also provided extensive coverage of World Youth Day 2002 events taking place across the city.  Other regular features included Humanae Vitae Positive – a weekly examination of human-life issues by Brian Moccia; Views from the Back Pew – light-hearted examinations of life and faith by broadcaster Russ Le Blanc.

  • In 2002, Catholic Youth Studio - KSM Inc. applied to the CRTC for a radio broadcasting licence.  The vision was to establish a 24-hour multi-lingual, multi-faith radio station on the 101.3 FM frequency.  Despite an enormous investment of hard work, funds and expertise, the broadcasting licence was awarded to another group.
After four years, our English Catholic broadcasts on CIAO AM 530 were discontinued due to the lack of necessary operating funds.  Catholic Radio, however, continues to maintain its presence through the Internet.  Visit our Audio Online page where you can listen to new features as they become available.

Our commitment to promoting Christian cultural values

  • The International Festival of Religious Song
Catholic Youth Studio – KSM Inc. has been promoting Christian artists not only by way of its broadcasts but also through the International Festival of Religious Song, which has been held annually since 1989.  The Festival has brought celebrities to town from Jamaica, Ireland, Italy, Poland, the United States, and many other countries.  The Festival has become a very special venue for amateur artists and professionals alike.  For more information visit the Festival homepage.

  • The John Paul II Silver Anniversary Gala Concert – October 12, 2003
This event, which was by far the largest event in Canada paying tribute to the Holy Father’s Silver Jubilee, took place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.  About 8,000 people took part in the celebration.  The Papal Nuncio to Canada, Archbishop Luigi Ventura, was the Honourary Patron for the concert and delivered remarks on behalf of His Holiness John Paul II.  Over 200 internationally-renowned artists performed, including Helmut Lotti of Belgium, Malgorzata Walewska of Poland, Tony Melendez of the USA, Anna Shafajinskaia of Russia and pan-flute virtuoso Georghe Zamfir of Romania as well as Franco Tenelli, Kinga Mitrowska, Adrian Anantawan and Lisa DiMaria of Canada.  The 150-voice World Youth Day and SMS choirs performed alongside a Silver Symphony Orchestra directed by Michael Newnham.

  • The John Paul II Legacy Concert – October 22, 2005
In 2005 on the 27th anniversary of the election of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla to the Holy See, Catholic Youth Studio organized a concert paying tribute to the legacy of Pope John Paul II.  The concert took place at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.  Attendance was solid with tickets selling out well in advance.  Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow, long-time secretary to Pope John Paul II, sent a special blessing which was played for everyone attending the Legacy Concert.  Performing on stage at Roy Thomson Hall were the winners of Catholic Youth Studio's online contest for the best songs dedicated to Pope John Paul II: Erin Berghouse from the USA, and Julia and Grzegorz Kopala from Poland.  Well-known Polish tenor, Marek Torzewski, delivered a marvelous performance and received a standing ovation.  In the second half of the concert, participants enjoyed the North American premiere of the Divine Mercy pop-oratorio which was written by Zbigniew Malkowicz and beautifully performed by the symphony orchestra and four soloists flown in from Poland.

  • TU ES PETRUS Oratorio – October 14, 2007
Catholic Youth Studio-KSM Inc. organized the Canadian premiere of the TU ES PETRUS oratorio.  The oratorio was performed in Polish at Roy Thomson Hall, in Toronto, on October 14, 2007 on the 29th anniversary of the election of Cardinal Wojtyla as Pope John Paul II.  It was originally composed in 2005 by Piotr Rubik as a tribute to Pope John Paul II.  This enormous undertaking – the first of its kind on Canadian soil – has been the most popular event of its type in Poland, with every concert there sold out.  Approximately 140 artists performed in this beautiful oratorio.
